Question by Matthew C: My pool filter keeps clogging up for no reason?
My family has a above-ground 30,000 litre swimming pool. It's a tank water and PoolFresh system along with a Cartridge Pool Filter.

What I've been doing lately is cleaning out the filters in the pool like so: doing the skimmer box first, then putting a stopper in the pipe that leads to the pool pump basket, cleaning that basket, then hosing the filter out with bore water to get rid of the dirt and stuff that gets in the filter. I then make sure everything is back to normal (put lids and such back on), and remove the stopper and power the pool back on.

Recently, it seems that the filter is clogging up 30 minutes or so more after I clean it out.

I have put pH buffer in the pool sometime last month, but the system had issues filtering after adding it in and I stopped adding the pH buffer (which is a powder) into the pool. I was thinking that the pool pump is stuck with that pH buffer powder in the area where it pumps the water though to the filter.

I do the general dose routine 2 times a week: 195grams of Stabilized Chlorine and 3 scoops of PoolFresh. The pool is in a sunny position, and I think the sun draws the chlorine from the water.

Am I doing something I shouldn't do? Am I adding too much of something? I'm not sure how much PoolFresh I'm meant to add...

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

try a new filter you can only clean those things so many times
